Watching X-Men the last stand I was amazed at the diversity. Not of race or religion or even of mutants, but of the diversity of good acting versus bad acting.
Now Hugh Jackman, Halle Berry and Patrick Stewart were great. I will admit that I could probably watch an entire movie of Halle Berry walking around in tight pants, but she is a great actress despite her super sexy look.
Famke Janssen and Rebecca Romijn were pretty miserable, especially Famke who just stood there playing the self absorbed psychotic all throughout the movie kind of in a daze or something. The drama should have been between the humans and mutants but it was side tracked by the jean Grey/Phoenix character who had God like powers.
In a superhero movie, you always know its going to go south when one of the super heroes ends up with God like powers. Once you are like god, there is no plot anymore. Anything is possible

I sort of watched this on a flight to Georgia last September. I say sort of because I was not about to pay $5 for a set of $1 headphones to see the movie. I ended up buying their $5 headphones on way back anyway when they showed the House on the Lake, but anyway – I was rather glad that I did not get the headphones for the X-Men movie, because I think if I had understood what all was going on I would not enjoy the book as much and my friend down there gave me a copy of the book as it turned out so I am slowly reading it now.
I’m really glad after reading your review that I am reading book first, and I agree Famke had looked kind of … out of it.
