WTH My Twitter Account was Suspended?

My account is definitely not a spammy account.  I don’t hit people over the head with get rich schemes or crap like that.  I do post quick updates via phone and browser about what I’m doing.  I do talk to other people, and when I publish a blog article every 2 or 3 days, the title of the blog article and a link to it goes to twitter.

Right after publishing a message that I was going swimming (and then going swimming and coming back to my computer I was greeted with the stupid red badge thing above.  I never received any warning from twitter.  Never any request to explain a post, tweet or activity, just immediate suspension.

Personally, I find that to be very poor service on Twitters behalf.  I realize they have a small team of people and have not figured out how to make money from their web venture, and I understand that they are under pressure to justify all the investor capital that they are spending, but blowing up an account with no warning is not the right way to go.

At about 1k followers and 4k updates on an account that is about 18 months old, I think they are way out of line.  What’s even stupider, I can prove my case because my updates are not my own.  They are hidden away and I can not even show that I’m not spamming the internet or something.  Might as call twitter the social media witch burning service. 

UPDATE

I was able to view some of my most recent tweets before the suspension, these were pulled in by my twitter feed in my sidebar.  I think these accurately reflect my tweets and are not spammy

That was my last tweet.  It was sent from my Palm Pre and the link is something the Pre twitter app includes, its a gps marker applied to a google map of the location where I was at when I tweeted (ergo on the lake!)

mindmanager is backup now, but the task completion roll up function has bugged out so I’m recovered fm digital stroke but don’t know it 2 hrs ago

This last set of three is in reply to a message from @tacticalchaos who wanted to know what MindManager was.  I’ve been blogging about MindManager for 3 years and working as a MindManager trainer for 4.  You could say that this is one of my areas of expertise.

Finally, as many of you know, I have been giving many different presentations at WordPress Meetups and recently a WordCamp demonstrating Artisteer .  Through all of these meetups and events Artisteer did not yet support Macs and NOW they do!  So I have been tweeting about this regularly, because sooooooo many people asked when the mac support was coming. 

So Twitter is just being stupid in my opinion. ~end of UPDATE

I’ll admit, that I’ve thought twitter was kind of stupid for a long time.  Still do feel that way.  I do not think the utility of this service has been proven by a long shot, and don’t throw the silly Iran thing out as an example, the Philippines did the same thing with text messages during a coup 10 years ago.  No big deal.

 

I received a notice that my twitter account had been temporarily suspended post login.  This happened shortly after I tweeted a message stating that I was going swimming.  After getting back from swimming, my account was suspended.  I’ve had the account for about a year and a half, I’m not a spammer and I would like to know why my account was put on suspension without even any kind of warning.

PS I have been using a new mobile ap with my new palm Pre called Tweed to publish a few of my updates.  Not sure if the multiple sources of updates (tweetdeck, seesmic, tweed, browser, and tweetlater, which I use to manage and vet followers) is causing some sort of problem.  If it is let me know.
