Outlander by Diana Gabauldon – Good Book Weird Ending
So I finally finished this marathon of a book. I do not know what the total listening time was off the top of my head, but I think it was around 25-30 hours. It was good, but some of the insights into the characters thoughts just seemed to repeat day after day after day.
The book also came to a strange conclusion. The main character towards the end of the book (SPOILER WARNING) finds religion in a French Abby, through religion seems to take solace in getting stuck in the past, and helps her husband get over the homosexual tendencies that he developed while being raped in a British Prison by a gay captain hung up on his own brother. If that wasn’t weird enough, she helps him get over this by some weird all night long S&M escapade at the French Abby where she seems to pretend to be the Gay British Captain and Rapist.
I dunno, I just couldn’t quite follow the homosexual healing thing that went on at the end. I kind of loosely paid attention through the scene and it was weird enough that I didn’t rewind.
Besides with my Creative Zen V MP3 player, I don’t know how to rewind and audible book anyway!
So all in all, if you like time travel books, this is a good one and probably a must read, unless you don’t like books with lots of sex, a little bit of S&M, and gay prison rape scenarios, although I hear that that was the way they used to perform acne treatments hundreds of years ago . .. . (almost a more plausible idea than parts of the plot twists in the book)
