Lean Mean Thirteen by Janet Evanovich and her Nice Exploding Beavers
I finished the latest novel by Janet Evanovich in the Stephanie Plum series. It was a very funny book, and that’s truly the most important thing about reading any of Janet’s books I think. There are a couple books in that series recently that were not quite as funny as the earlier books in this book redeems them all.
As you know I throw out spoilers all the time in this blog, so don’t get upset when I say that the exploding squirrels and exploding beavers were pretty damn funny in this book. I was very happy to see Stephanie get a little bit of revenge with her exploding beaver. It’s even stranger that I’d seen a dead beaver wash up on the banks of our lake the same day that I was reading about exploding beavers in a Janet Evanovich book!
I’d show you a picture but it’s a little disgusting. I’m sure they explode beaver was not quite so gross.
There aren’t too many books to make you bust up laughing out loud as you read them, but Janet Evanovich manages to write these are regular basis. I love these books, my mother loves these books and my grandmother loves these books.
I thought it was a nice twist in this book to see Stephanie Plum not only lose a car this time, but lose a fortune in the car. It was also kind of nice to see Stephanie Plum get it together a bit in this book. Sure she had her share of crazy mishaps, but at least she seems to be getting comfortable with herself.
Most people with her problems would probably wash up in a bar on bar stools somewhere and lose themselves in too much booze. So it’s kind of nice to see her actually make a little bit of progress for a change and turn into the tough female character that she would have to be to keep doing what she does.
