Father’s Day Book – Dragonfly in Amber – Know Your History if you Time Travel!
This afternoon I am continuing to read a book dragonfly in Amber. I’m still a bit confused as the book is still stuck in some sort of flashback, but at least these subplot in this flashback is starting to get a little bit more interesting. The main character is tooling around France with her husband trying to prevent a war that she knows is coming because she’s time traveled back in time.
I suppose it’s very useful to have a main character in a time travel book that is a historian by profession or is it least grown-up daughter of a historian as is the case in this particular book. I suspect that most people that might time travel back in time and no historical dates very well whatsoever and therefore their knowledge of the future would be virtually useless to them.
Knowing how to operate a speed dial on a cell phone or even utilize a spreadsheet on a computer would be completely worthless in the 18th or 19th century little on the 17th century. Most people today if sent back in time would probably rapidly find themselves cleaning floors or locked up in jail for being a vagrant or possibly shot on the street for offending somebody.
The main character of this book was almost made into a prostitute even though she had the skill of being a wartime nurse and the daughter of a historian.
